Issuance of U.S. Patent Solidifies GuestLogix' Leadership Position

GuestLogix Inc.

Company Granted First United States Patent for Systems and Methods Facilitating Mobile Retail Environments

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - December 12, 2012) - GuestLogix Inc. (TSX:GXI), the leading global provider of onboard retail and payment technology solutions to airlines and the passenger travel industry, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 8,328,094 protecting the technology behind the Company''s onboard retail platform. The patent protects a system for facilitating sales in a mobile retail environment, specifically as it relates to retail sales to passengers on public transportation vehicles.

"The grant of this patent, which recognizes the unique significance of GuestLogix'' innovation and leadership within the onboard retail technology sector, marks a tremendous milestone in the history of our Company," said Brett Proud, President & CEO, GuestLogix. "Having designed, developed and delivered the passenger travel industry''s most comprehensive onboard retail platform, we are very excited to bring this level of recognition to our product development teams and heightened protection to our Company and shareholders."

The patent, entitled "Systems and Methods Facilitating Mobile Retail Environments" was granted on Tuesday, December 11, and defines an automated system for facilitating sales in dynamically-changing mobile retail environments. The claimed system features a provisioning module that obtains product data and transportation data, and determines mobile inventory requirements corresponding to a specific mobile retail environment. This innovation was designed to ease the economic pressure on carriers by providing an automated system that would aid in the generation of onboard ancillary revenues. GuestLogix'' end-to-end solution improves back office and onboard efficiencies, increases revenue opportunity for travel operators and enhances the overall passenger experience.

"This award by the U.S. patent law regime recognizes the uniqueness of GuestLogix'' line of business," said Peter Nguyen, VP - General Counsel, GuestLogix. "This patent is the first granted from among a series of patent applications that we have pending. We expect continued success with our other patent applications currently being prosecuted in the U.S., Europe and other major international markets, and in all instances we will protect and enforce our intellectual property rights in these valuable assets."

GuestLogix serves approximately 90% of the North American airline passenger traffic and 46% of the global airline passenger traffic. The Company also serves European rail operators and recently launched a dedicated Global Rail Division to penetrate the worldwide market. Combined, the global air and rail sectors have a potential opportunity of more than $60B in ancillary revenues annually.

GuestLogix has a comprehensive patent strategy in place, with additional patent applications currently under review in the U.S., Europe and internationally.
